Smell
This is THE best smelling wine I have ever had! The nose alone makes this wine worth buying!

Very intense, with smell of dirt, smoke, pepper, Jägermeister, licorice and anti mosquitospray. It’s just a circus of smells, they are all in harmony. Just delicious!
It is not however, a beginners wine, and if you like fruitbombs this wine might not be one you would like.
That don’t stop me loving it!

Taste
Powerful, concentrated and intense. Not that easy make out the taste, but do get some fruit, dark red berries on the pallet. Can also get something that reminded me of pickels, but not totally.
A good wine still.

Conclusion
I found myself sniffing this wine almost more then I drank it, a good wine with an amazing nose. It’s abit expensive, and that’s the only negative against this wine. With 189,90 NOK, it’s not a wine for everyone. And with many, many winedrinkers not smelling the wine, this is a no-go for them. But if you care for good wine and goooooood smell, find this wine!"

KYLE PHILLIP'S ITALIAN WINE REVIEW

"Aldegheri Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2005 DOC
Bottled September 2008
Deep pigeon blood ruby with black reflections and almandine rim. The bouquet is fairly intense, in a more rustic key than many, with balsamic notes mingled with animal tang -- wet straw, in particular -- and some acidity, with airy spice as well. On the palate it's ample, with fairly rich red berry fruit supported by moderate acidity and by smooth sweet tannins that flow into a clean bright finish with berry fruit and some acidity. I won't say traditional because traditional isn't rustic, but I did find myself enjoying the mouthfeel, and if you like slightly more rustic wines it will drink quite well with foods, though I would give it a few years to get its bearings."

"The wine was an unqualified hit. Vintage Port has an ever-changing list of more than 2 dozen wines, most of which are available by the glass. Our waiter told us about that day’s special wine, an Aldegheri Sengia Rossa from Italy’s Veneto. This wine is classified as a ripasso, a red wine made by fermenting young wine with the skins and lees left over from making Amarone, a far more expensive wine which ripasso resembles. On a cold, wet night, this deep, rich wine was just the thing."

"aldegheri - amarone della valpolicella classico 1997 - tasting notes

our notes are based on the WSET systematic approach to tasting:

appearance: clear bright, opaque purple ruby color with much lucsciou legs on the bowl of the glass

nose: clean with a medium (+) intensity. developping with fruity characteristics of stewed dark forest fruits - blackberries, blueberries and dark cherries. with hints of black pepper and leather.

palate: dry with a fairly balanced medium (-) acidity & medium tannin (round) with a high alcohol level and full body. medium (+) intensity flavours much as nose but with more pronounced pepper and leather on the finish. a medium and silky finish.

conclusion: a good quality wine. with a good level of acidity, tannin and fruit still present, a fairly complex wine, it is ready to drink but can age for further terciary complexity development. "
